Founder & CEO, Sunlight Media LLC
Arts District, Downtown Los Angeles, California
A local business owner who genuinely cares about the success and customer satisfaction of every project — whether that’s web design, app development, or digital marketing.
From touring musician to agency founder
I started Sunlight Media in 2011, but I was building websites long before that. For over twenty years I worked as a professional musician, touring and traveling the world. Musicians have a lot of downtime — you spend a lot of hours on planes, buses, and in hotels — so I’d pull out my laptop and take on small web design projects to fill the time. Back then I was working mostly in Flash, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop, which were the industry standard.
The problem with being a solo developer is bandwidth. I could only handle one or two projects at a time, and clients who needed something sooner would move on before I could circle back. I was missing out on real opportunities. That’s what pushed me to put a small team together and turn Sunlight Media into a proper agency. Today, the agency has shipped 500+ websites for 750+ clients across entertainment, legal, and e-commerce, and my own focus is on business development, contracts, proposals, marketing, and sales.
Built and managed by humans, not machines
“Built and managed by humans, not machines” is a phrase you’ll see across the Sunlight Media website, and it isn’t a swipe at AI — we use AI every day, from Midjourney and Surfer to Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. It’s a statement about who owns the outcome. When you hire Sunlight Media, a person reads your brief, a person sketches the wireframe, a person writes the code, and a person picks up the phone when something breaks. AI accelerates our work. It doesn’t replace the people accountable for it.

The build included custom WordPress theme development, Gutenberg patterns for in-house editing, schema markup for LegalService and Organization, and SEO-enhanced content writing for every service page.

What I’m working on right now
Hush Sort — indie mobile puzzle game
Outside of agency work, I’m building Hush Sort, an indie mobile puzzle game in Unity. It’s a cozy color-sorting puzzle for casual mobile audiences — built solo on nights and weekends, monetized through AdMob and a $2.99/month subscription. It’s my reminder that the best way to understand product is to keep shipping one.
Sunlight Media AI Website Builder
The biggest addition to our service offering in the last year is the Sunlight Media AI Website Builder — a white-label, AI-assisted site builder for clients who need to launch quickly and on a tighter budget. Plans start at $49/month for Business and $99/month for Ecommerce, with manual provisioning by our team within four business hours. It’s a different product than our custom agency work, but it solves a different problem: getting a polished, brand-aligned site live in days, not weeks.
Currently exploring
Three things have my attention right now: GEO and AI search optimization (the rules are changing fast, and the agencies that figure it out early will own the next decade), maintainable design systems (because every project I’ve ever shipped has eventually become someone’s maintenance burden), and what comes after WordPress. The honest answer to that last one is I don’t know yet — but I’m watching closely.
Outside of work
Music is still the thread that runs through everything. Twenty-plus years on the road as a touring musician shaped how I think about pacing, rhythm, and timing — habits that show up in the user experiences we build. I’m an obsessive consumer of new tech (currently building an indie mobile game on the side, which is its own kind of design school). I’m also into sports — soccer, MMA, and Australian football in particular — and try to balance that with yoga, gym work, hiking, and the occasional beach day. Living in LA helps. So does travel, which has been a constant since the touring days.
Why Los Angeles
Music originally brought me to Los Angeles, Sunlight Media kept me here, and property investment has made it home in a more permanent way. Moving has crossed my mind more than once over the years, but the lifestyle keeps pulling me back — sun, surf, mountains an hour away, the food, the entertainment, and especially the live music scene. Every time I seriously consider leaving, I realize I’d miss too much of it. So I’m still here.
